Most living creatures, in order to reproduce, require the union of both a male and female member of their particular species.  The amoeba, however, cleverly manages to reproduce by dividing itself into two, the second organism being the clone of the first.  Here this process of procreation among single-celled creatures, known as mitosis, is illustrated in six easy steps (well, easy if you’re an amoeba).
